A Personal Glimpse
My mother had Alzheimers disease for the last ten years of her life. It was very painful for me to watch the disease take away her memory, and I began to compose music for her -- my last form of communication with her. I made a CD of those songs for my dad to play for her. She died on June 6, 2002 on the 59th anniversary of their wedding. My father had died only five weeks before her death; he had given everything he had caring for the love of his life.
